Many jurisdictions require a local registered address. Depending on the country, this can range from a low-cost virtual office to a mandatory physical lease — a cost that's easy to underestimate if you're comparing headline registration fees between countries with very different office requirements.

Nominee director or local shareholder arrangements

Jurisdictions like Singapore that require a locally resident director typically involve an annual fee for a nominee director service if you don't have a qualifying local candidate — this recurs yearly, not just at setup.

Ongoing compliance costs

Annual renewal fees, accounting and tax filing, and confirmation statements or equivalent annual returns are recurring costs that start the year after registration and continue for as long as the company exists — these should factor into any real cost comparison, not just the one-time setup fee.

What to actually ask a provider

Rather than comparing headline "from" prices, ask what's included, what's billed separately, and what the realistic first-year total looks like including renewals. That question alone filters out most misleading comparisons.
